Spitfire Audio has introduced LABS Music Box, a freely downloadable music box sound library compatible with the freeware LABS virtual instrument in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.
LABS Music Box features the sampled sounds of two different music boxes. One is a regular music box which was placed on a piano for extra resonance during the recording process. The other one was created and sampled by composer Hannah Peel. She made it by hand, printing notations on paper using a hole puncher. The hand-made music box was featured in Hannah’s original score for HBO’s recently aired “Game of Thrones: The Last Watch” documentary.

There are only a handful of on-screen controls for changing the most important instrument parameters like output volume and reverb amount. The focus is on the quality of the sampled sounds and the immediate playability of the instrument. Both of the sampled music boxes are oozing with character and will surely inspire you to create music.
To download your free copy LABS Music Box, you will need to sign up for a Spitfire Audio user account and download their software licenser application which will handle the LABS installation process.
