Im new to dish. When scrolling through the guide and I see a show that is coming on later, is there any way to set an auto tune so that it comes on automatically at that time? I done want to record it, just click when I see it on the guide and have the option to have it come on automatically? A DISH timer is your instruction telling the receiver the programs you want to view in the future. For most ERD (External Recording Device) or VCR, you select a specific program on a specific channel, and tell the receiver how often you want to record that program. Be sure to set up the receiver to control your VCR.

- I just upgraded my home DVR from to a Genie system, we had two TV's one a DVR and one just an HD receiver. The HD receiver had auto tune on it which was a great feature for watching TV.
