I would put the phone into dfu, and restore the phone. Whatever hasn't been saved, is lost now. You can restore to a backup, either through the cloud, or iTunes Plug your device into your computer with a USB cable. As the original screen is cracked but functional I decided to refit it and was able to update and restore fine with iTunes.
